My name's Rachel Louise Atkin and I'm an MA Literature graduate currently living in Sheffield. This blog is where I'll be posting book reviews, essays, extracts from fiction, and other things I feel like sharing about the literature that I read.
Primarily, I write on the works of Bret Easton Ellis, Jay McInerney and the surrounding 80's literary scene of New York, but I will pretty much read and write about any New York fiction, especially 9/11 fiction. I also love the postmodern gothic, surrealism, and existentialist fiction and essays. My undergraduate dissertation was on the poetry of Wilfred Owen, and my postgraduate dissertation was on excess and consumption in the fiction of the 1980s literary brat pack.
Some of my favourite books include The Catcher in the Rye, A Clockwork Orange, American Psycho, The Secret History, Invisible Man, Hamlet, Trainspotting, Nausea, and many others.
